"(*JESS' leg cramps.) -- p. 12
What does a leg spasm look like?
A burn injury decreases muscle volume and density--this inflammation leads to muscle atrophy (the loss of skeletal muscle causing weakness and/or disability).
A lack of activity can also contribute/worsen this.
Spasm = Contracture
Stiff/tight muscles resistant to stretching, causing pain, decreased range of motion, and impaired joint mobility.
Can be as painful as a "Charlie Horse" (usually caused by the motion of an under/overused muscle) or more like an arthritic pain (usually caused by stiffness in joints, usually painful when resting).
In the scene where Jess experiences this spasm, there are no stage directions to indicate or suggest what Jess is doing (Kacie is cleaning up after the party). Since this is the only moment that we see Jess, explicitly, experience this spasm, I'm leaning more towards her resting after having been standing/moving around during the party which means this could be a Charlie Horse from being more active during the party than she's used to or an arthritic pain from having been in this resting position for a few minutes after activity--depends on director and actor.
